Desperate Housewives 1.6.08

FINALLY a new episode!!! I am so sick of this stupid strike, it is ruining everything- award shows, season finales...they need to just go back to work or the networks need to find new writers from Britain or something, it's getting out of hand.

We left off with Lynette standing in front of Mrs. McLusky's house- entirely demolished- from the freak tornado that blew through town... and Lynette's entire family inside in the basement, possibly all dead.

There was also the small issue of a dead Victor (you'll recall the fence post through his back) and a possibly very badly hurt Carlos as well. Edie intercepted the guy with the secret bank account in the Cayman Islands paperwork, and then they blew away when Gabby fought with her to get them back. Bree dealt with the craziness that is Catherine and her husband and the stalker who claims she slept with him (and then got blown away in the storm) plus a new baby.

Mike and Susan were fighting because he is hooked on prescription meds and she is pregnant and freaking out. Now he's in rehab.

Now that we're all caught up, Lynette watches as emergency crews slowly pull away rubble from the house, looking for her family (and Ida). The scene is actually very well done- and very dramatic as one by one her kids are pulled out safe and sound, and then finally Tom... but not Ida. She didn't make it.

Lynette and Mrs. McLusky are cleaning up Ida's house- and Lynette is surprised to discover that Ida was a pro baseball player back in the day. Then, her son Parker tells them that Ida was the one who made them all get under the stairs during the storm while she sat in a corner because there wasn't enough room- so she saved their lives and lost her own.

Ida's niece shows up to grab her stuff and she's totally a bitch- she makes Mrs. McLusky give back the pearls Ida promised her (unfortunately not in writing) and then tells Lynette they don't have time to scatter her ashes in Greenville Field (where Ida played pro baseball) so they will just put her ashes in the family plot in Omaha. Lynette runs into the house and switches Ida's ashes for vacuum cleaner dust (good one Lynette) and then Mrs. McLusky tells the niece she is staying in Ida's house because her own was demolished- and the niece tells her she has one week! Later that night Lynette and Mrs. McLusky sneak to the baseball field to scatter Ida's ashes- and as they are scattering the lights come on and they get taken out by security- but not before Lynette manages to run and scatter Ida in the process! (They get let off with a warning).

Gabrielle has a run-in with Milton (Victor's father) right before Victor's funeral begins, and he informs her that he saw the photos of her and Carlos and that she won't be inheriting a dime- since everything Victor had was in his father's name. He also tells her to leave the funeral, or he'll expose her for what she did to Victor- so Gabrielle has to walk out of the church in front of everyone.
Gabby goes to see Carlos in the hospital (who has bandages over his eyes) and tells him the news about Victor's money- and Carlos says not to worry because he is still a rich guy. She tells him about how the paperwork for his offshore accounts blew away, and he starts freaking out because that was the only copy and there is no other way into the accounts (which makes very little sense- I know a bit about banking, and this just doesn't seem realistic but I'll disregard for the story line's sake) anyway, Gabby starts clicking on his pain med button and he slowly goes back to sleep.
Gabby goes to see Al (the guy who brought over the papers) only to find out he died- and she is at his wake. She says hello to his wife and finds out all his old files are in the garage. She makes a huge mess off all the papers and accidentally opens the garage door- just as they are taking out the coffin- and pretends to be devastated screaming "Why god why" and throwing papers around. Gabby finds out and tells Carlos that Al's wife shredded any offshore paperwork to protect Al, and they realize they are broke. Gabby goes to the cafeteria and while she is out the doctor asks Carlos why he hasn't told Gabby that he is BLIND.

Bree, Orson and the baby move in with Susan, Mike and Julie- who are nervous because they think Bree will take over running the house and generally drive them crazy.

Bree's contractor Walter quits because his significant other left him- and the gay neighbors (sorry can't recall their names) who introduced him to Bree tell her what happened and she tells them to fix him up with one of their friends- so they explain that in the gay world, Walter is a 3, and all their friends are 9's- and 'in the gay world, three doesn't go into nine" (Very cute pun!) Cuter still is Bree's response "Well, then we'll have to find him someone who isn't good at gay math!"
Susan walks into her house crying (because Mike is in rehab and she is lonely) only to find that Bree has transformed her home into something from a magazine- complete with dinner ready in the oven and clean laundry! Bree hosts dinner and invites Walter, to try to convince him to finish the house for them. Bree, has invited Andrew to dinner- presumably to set him up with Walter so he can get back to work!!! Andrew figures it out and confronts Bree in the kitchen. Andrew agrees to do it for a 60" Flat screen TV and Bree says if it comes in on time and under budget, she'll throw in surround sound. (Susan meanwhile now doesn't want Bree to ever leave, so she is trying to figure out how to keep Walter miserable so he never finishes Bree's roof). Susan invades their desert and starts messing it all up for Bree. It works because Walter leaves- and Bree is pissed! She confronts Susan and they talk about how Susan is glad to have Bree there because she is lonely without Mike and Bree makes it feel like home.

Sylvia Green- the stalker- is found dead from the storm, but Catherine is still pissed that her husband had an affair with her and tells him to move out. While he is packing, Dylan walks in and gets mad that he's leaving her alone with Catherine- and as he bends down to pick up the sock she threw at him, he finds the note that Catherine's aunt dropped when she died. (We still don't know what it says- but it's important).
He confronts Catherine- and tells her he's leaving because he's leaving her- not because she told him too. He hands her the note (WHAT DOES IT SAY ALREADY!?!) and walks out the door. Catherine reads it, then starts crying, tears it up and throws it into the fireplace. After she leaves the room, Dylan comes down the steps... and takes the burning pieces out- reads them- and starts to cry too!

End of episode- cliffhanger!
I am so curious to know what that note says- it better be good, I will be very disappointed if its something stupid.

Also, I am glad they gave Ida a back story even though her character is dead now- and I am sad that Carlos is blind, but maybe they'll have a miracle episode and he'll regain his sight?
