Samantha Who

Samantha finds out you can't put metal in a microwave and also, that she is allergic to oregano (and now her tongue is swollen). Turns out she can't really cook at all either!

At the bar with Andrea and Dina, they are talking and come up with maybe Samantha should go to Andrea's hypnotherapist who is helping her remember the phone number of a guy she met, maybe they can help Samantha remember things too.

3, 2, 1. Open your eyes.
Samantha does and remembers... she's adopted! And that her birth parents gave her a heart shaped necklace. And she used to smoke.

She is elated, because that means her parents aren't her biological parents, but she wants to ask them where her real parents are.

When she confronts them, they burst out laughing and said it wasn't true.
They don't have her birth certificate though, and since she was born internationally, she can't order a new copy of it either.
But she looks in her old hiding place where she used to hide cigarettes and finds the necklace.
Samantha has a huge fight with her parents, because she feels she can't trust them to help her know who she is if they won't tell her the truth, and leaves.

Unfortunately, Andrea doesn't let her stay with her (because she thinks grown-ups are supposed to take care of themselves...)
So she goes to her ex's apartment (Tod) and stays there. She also finds out that his apartment is actually hers- she bought it and owns it. Then they fight because she moved out when she first woke up from the coma (and he never mentioned that she owned it because she never asked) and then she throws him out. (She wants to live in a liar free zone)

After another session at the hypnotherapists, she realizes she is remembering 'Annie' when she played the part in a play and that's why she thinks she's adopted....

AUGH! Her apartment is 11D!!!
That only matters to me, but AUGH!

Samantha's mom shows up at her apartment with food, and to talk. Her mom didn't want her to go to the therapist because she didn't want Samantha to remember the bad times she had with her mother, and decide not to be a part of her life. They reconcile, and she also remembers the phone number of the guy Andrea was looking for!

Frank the doorman is really funny.
The only plus that came from the therapist was that Samantha isn't afraid of elevators any more!!!

Samantha Who

So, she still can't remember things- and it's still funny (I was worried it would get a little old).

Samantha starts crying at the ice cream shop while tasting the flavors to find out which one she likes. The Bangles "We got the Beat" comes on and for some reason it makes her cry.

Then, when she is debating with her ex whether she was mean to all the men she ever dated, a random guy stops on the street and points at her and screams and turns around and runs away- shouting something about a restraining order! Turns out, best friend Andrea knew all about it, and was representing her over it- she kidnapped his dog!- and Samantha wants to make it all better- to try to set the guy (Nathan) free from his fear of her.

She finds his address, goes to talk to him (but he won't open the door) and he sneaks away out the fire escape.
She waits for him in his car (yeah, she can break into cars) and while she is convincing him that she is normal, a car drives by playing the Bangles song again, and she starts bawling...

Andrea diagnoses that the reason Samantha wants attention to the point of the restraining order is because of her 'Daddy Issues' because her Dad didn't pay any attention to her. Samantha decides to get a gun and join her Dad when he goes hunting at the start of hunting season (conveniently starting the next day).

So early the next morning, she makes coffee and is ready when her Dad comes down to go hunting, and tells him she wants to come with, and he says no, he wants to hunt alone. So she sneaks into the backseat of his car- but he takes the other car! Samantha harangues her mom to drive her to the hunting place, but when she shows up, her dad is less than happy. She gives up and goes to the store to return the rifle. (and hilariously, as she is bitching about how she is so mad at her dad she could kill him, with rifle in hand, the guy with the restraining order shows up right in front of her!)

At the police station, her Dad is the one who picks her up. She has a memory flashback of another time when her dad picked her up when she was younger, after a horrible haircut, and the Bangles song comes on and she fights with her dad and cries- cut back to them in the car now, and she is finally able to talk to her dad.

Cute!

Samantha Who

I saw a commercial somewhere that said this show is the number one comedy in America- I don't know if that's true, but I like it, so who knows.

Recap- this girl has amnesia, remembers nothing...
So, she's in a bar and realizes she doesn't even remember having sex- so her drunk very funny friends (played by a well cast Jennifer Esposito) screams out "Oh, my god, so you're virgin!"
Love it!

Side note- I love her clothing on this show- the stylist is good- and while the clothing is very chic New York, it has a punchy quirky twist, kind of like the dialogue and the characters on the show itself.

Anyway, she goes on a trek to find out about her first time, and ends up in a bar with her friends to find someone, and ends up going home with a virgin and has a flash back to having sex with her (ex)boyfriend Todd and realizes she'd rather do it with someone special, so she heads back to Todd's apartment- but finds him there with a girl... so she gets mad and leaves.

Cute side thing- she tries to ride her bike and realizes she forgot how to do that oo- so the episode ends with her riding her bike around in the middle of the night... awwww, so sweet.

Samantha Who

Tonight's episode was ok- I like the sentimental side of this show, but it is losing my interest fast.

I still love Christina Applegate and hope she is able to get this show up and running a little harder in the coming weeks. Jean Smart is still the funniest character.

Samantha Who

Let me start with this- Christina Applegate is adorable in 'The Sweetest Thing' which is one of my favorite movies. I am glad she has a show where we get to see her talent every week.

The premise of the show is that Samantha was in an accident and has no memory from before the accident. She is trying to piece clues of who she is from things she finds and people she speaks to. Her mom (played by Jean Smart) is funny, abrasive and totally in her face. Her dad is big teddy bear, and the random friends who come out of the woodwork are hilarious.

I like Jennifer Esposito, she is really well cast.

Anyway, all the signs seem to indicate that Samantha was an awful person who lied, stepped all over people and was mean to those around her- and since she remembers none of it this all makes for a highly hilarious show.

Fr'instance, she finds a card for a doctor's appointment in her wallet, shows up and finds out it was for breast implants!!! She also forgets her fear of elevators, until she gets in one and freaks out.

It is a really cute show with great humor and funny one liners- worth watching
