Big Shots 1.24.05

Terrence is dead! I really assumed he'd have a few episodes in the hospital and then make a comeback. Good plot twist! Unfortunately, Duncan can be blamed now for hiring Zack to shoot Terrence...but it gets even worse when Duncan realizes he once slept with Terrence's sister a long time ago- and it ended badly!

Brody brings the guys to his 'special place' - a man's playground with video games and all kind of entertainment housed in an apartment because his wife won't let him have all the stuff!
Unfortunately for Brody, Janelle finds the place and surprises him there...and says she doesn't mind if he does 'Brody stuff' but he needs to do it together with her. She tries video game football, but sucks at it and it gives her a headache, so she suggest basketball. Brody tried to show her how to play, and misses every time (He's never missed before) and then Janelle makes every shot! She also beats him at Foosball!
She was playing him all along though, by winning at everything she takes the fun out of it and Brody decides to give up the apartment... as the movers are packing it up, Janelle slips him a tip and tells him he can 'lose some of the oxes' she's a sly little minx!

But Brody isn't that dumb, the next day the mover comes to Brody with a key and says its all back in place- and Brody pays him- maybe Brody knows more about Janelle than she realizes!!

Duncan finds out that Terrence was major stockholder at Reveal- therefore Elizabeth is now his new boss... and now his corporate card doesn't work! Victoria (Terrence's sister) confronts Duncan and Elizabeth and tells Elizabeth she won't get a cent, that she thinks she just married her brother for the money...

In another twist (writer's are on fire this week) Marla is the one begging Carl not to tell his wife about their affair and that her baby is his! She doesn't want their friendship ruined- then in a predictable turn of events, Wendy walks in and Marla blurts it all out- and then Wendy throws them both out of the house. Carl tried to make up by buying her jewellery, but that doesn't work. Marla tried next, by asking Wendy to raise the baby with Carl- and Wendy relents and let's Marla back in (but not Carl...).

Katie is fed up with all the whispers and stares about her brief fling with James so she goes on an interview thinking if she doesn't work at the same company then they can date in peace- but in the end decides she can handle it. They come out publicly at work that they are dating.

Duncan meets with Victoria to get her to back off of Elizabeth, but he is too late- Elizabeth had already met with Victoria and signed over Terrence's entire estate to her.

Carl confronts Wendy and reads his wedding vows aloud to her- and as soon as he finishes she runs away and throws up in the bathroom. Turns out... Wendy is pregnant too! Happy happy joy joy (Poor Carl).

Victoria comes in to the board meeting at Reveal- she now owns Duncan just like her brother did... as Duncan ;eaves the meeting,he finds an envelope with a news article about Terrence's death- and a message "Are you proud of me now Dad? - Zack"

Big Shots 1.17.08

I am happy- a new episode! (and yes, I'm watching it live)

James and Katie are in bed together (finally, we knew it was going to happen).

Later at the club, the guys warn him that office romances are dangerous, and Duncan updates them that Zack is recovering from his attempted suicide. Brody reminds him that he's not really Zack's dad, but Duncan says Zack has no one else...

Brody gets this sports guy out of a parking ticket, and then the guy hires him (didn't catch his name). Irony being, when Brody gets back to his car, HE has a parking ticket!

James asks Katie to go public with their relationship and sign company release of liability paperwork so they can date in the office publicly, mostly to protect them from the Board, but she convinces him they should keep it private.

Duncan meets Elizabeth during lunch and finds out she is selling her business. Duncan says she is being predictable, and bending over too far for Terrence.

Jump to Duncan in bed with a random pretty girl... she asks him to come out partying with her, and he says no, "Once I get into bed, I don't get out" and she calls him a loser, but then he gets a call and he says he'll be right there.

Karl walks in and sees his wife holding a positive pregnancy test- belonging to Marla (his ex-mistress). Marla hasn't confirmed whose baby it is- in fact she didn't give his wife the test, his wife found it...

Duncan gets to the office and sees Terrence- turns out women are having allergic reactions on the East coast to a certain product. Duncan starts talking about preempting the negative publicity by putting out positive press, but Terrence wants to keep silent.

(Sorry, this episode is starting out a bit boring...)

Brody gets a call from the new sports guy he's repping- Gary. Gary is drunk at 5:30 pm (2:30pm west coast time) and asks Brody for a ride- when Brody tells him to take a cab, Gary points out how bad it will look if the press catches on, so Brody cancels his plans with his wife and goes to pick up Gary and drive him home. Gary is at a bar, still partying, and tries to get Brody to start drinking with him, and tries to get Brody to be his wing man with a hot chic he is trying to score with by talking to the chic's very cute, drunk friend... nuff said.

Duncan is visiting Zack, and starts telling him about the issue with the company and Terrence's threat to fire him if the stock drops... as they are talking it ends up on the news about the allergic reactions- because a prom had to get cancelled when all the girls got sick from the makeup!

Karl confronts Marla about being pregnant- and she reassures him that the baby is Tom's (her ex) not Karl's.

Duncan meets with one of the mother's whose daughter got sick from the make up. She plays hard ball and Duncan writes down a dollar amount on a piece of paper, and she agrees to the settlement amount. Duncan then does a press conference, with all the girls from the prom behind him, and he announces that they will all go to a replacement prom, at his country club and get gift baskets too. (Nice recovery Duncan!)

James and Katie kiss in the office after a meeting, and the disgruntled co-worker who complained to James about Katie sees them kissing... dum dum dum

(Yeesh- every time I get into it and start writing it cuts to commercial!!!)

James meets with Kevin (disgruntled co-worker), and the he tells James he saw James and Katie kissing- and that he wants a higher salary or he'll tell. James counters that the board will care a lot more about the missing $2 million than some office romance- SNAP!

The prom girl's mom stops by to see Duncan and invite him to some event, and they start flirting. She sees the young hottie waiting for Duncan and kind of teases him about it...

James tells Katie about Kevin's threat to tell, and they agree to fill out the office paperwork that will allow them to date.

Brody is wrecked after partying with Gary the athlete and new client- and when he meets with Duncan and James they discuss all their issues. Karl joins them late, and informs them that Marla is moving out, and that the baby isn't his. They realize that she probably lied, its probably Karl's anyway...

Duncan gets a call, and runs to see Zack- who broke into the pharmacy at the hospital where he is recovering. I missed what it was all about, but I think Zack might be crazy.

Back at the office, Duncan gets a call from Terrence about how the stock fell a little bit, even though Duncan managed the crisis. He warns Duncan that the next time it happens, he'd better listen to him, or Duncan would be fired. Another guy at the company overhears and tells Duncan he thinks it was Terrence who made the stock drop, so he could buy it all up and also fire Duncan... later Duncan sees Elizabeth and is mean to her and tells her he knows about Terrence's plan to buy all the stock and ruin his life... she doesn't believe him, but he didn't think she would anyway.

Later that night, Duncan is trying to have a romantic night in with his hot young fling and she says she's not into wine- that's something her dad would be more into... ouch.

Elizabeth confronts Terrence and asks him to promise to never sell Reveal. He says he didn't intend to, but now he has a buyer, and could double his money on it. Terrence gets pissed and is nasty to Elizabeth (scary nasty, mean). She walks out.

The re-prom is going on and Duncan surprises the prom-mom he was flirting with by showing up. They bail on it together and go to his place and get drunk and, well, you know... and then they get back to the prom. She tells him it was fun for one night, but it won't work between them long term, they just live different lives.

Brody is at a fancy restaurant getting ready to wine and dine his wife, he ignored his cell when it rings- Gary is on the id... the next day Brody has to look at photos of Gary drunk and crazy, that Gary bought from the photographer with the money he should have paid Brody...but now won't...

Katie tells James she can't do this with him at work- she has worked too hard and come too far on her own to let it get diminished by her relationship with him. They agree it wasn't a mistake, they just need to focus on their careers, and they will just be friends. (which I can already tell you won't work out long term so why bother? She should just go work at another company). Then James goes and fires Kevin... who threatens to go tell the board, but James just wishes him luck and has security escort him out.

Karl confronts Marla again- and tells her he knows the baby is his, and they need to tell Wendy.

Duncan gets a call from the hospital- and finds out Zack is missing...

Elizabeth drives up to pick up Terrence and make nice with him,and as he approaches the car, a gun fires- and we see that Zack shot Terrence... and then Zack runs away...

Whew- it took the entire episode but the last few seconds are finally worth it!!!

Big Shots 1.11.08

FINALLY a new episode- this stupid writer's strike is getting old, fast.

There is the usual crazy shenanigans... although not a record making episode it had a few perks- like Brody.
This week he pulled over to help a gorgeous woman, who we learn is called Heather, with a flat tire (played by Charisma Carpenter who I last saw on Buffy -or was it Angel?- and possibly starred in a few episodes of Law & Order or something along those lines) anyhoo, she hits on him, hard, and he resists... for a while... eventually meeting up with her for lunch, where she hits on him again and more than suggests that she wants to go further... while he still resists and doesn't give in, until his bossy wife keeps calling and he finally snaps and goes to meet the lovely Heather and after steamy hotel sex it turns out that she's his wife and they are role playing for their anniversary. Steamy. I'm kidding- it kinda sucked once we find out he isn't actually standing up to his ball and chain wife.

In other randomness, Zack isn't really Duncan's son and when Duncan finds out he cuts him off completely, so while Duncan is at his ex wife Elizabeth's wedding (to the back-stabbing Terrence who now owns majority shares of Reveal, therefore becoming Duncan's boss too) Zach supposedly od's on pain meds in a tux in Duncan's apartment.

That's pretty much the highlight of the new episode... but at least a good show had a new episode!!!

Big Shots & Grey's Anatomy

Big Shots

The show is losing momentum- how many times can we watch the same thing over and over again before our attention starts to wander elsewhere?

I know they drop a tiny new bit of info about each character in pretty much every episode, but its getting real slow, real fast!

Grey's Anatomy

The reason I posted these two together (besides watching them back to back tonight) is that they are both losing steam the same way.

The only interesting things that happened this week was that Callie finally got fired as Chief Resident and Dr. Bailey hired in her place (come on, she was doing all the work anyway!)
Oh, and Izzie and George can't find the chemistry they had the first time they had sex and keep desperately trying. The entire show. With no luck.
Blah.

I missed Ugly Betty, so I will have to watch it online later- Victoria Beckham makes an appearance so here's hoping it was awesome!

Big Shots

This show is seriously poised to be the next Sex and the City for me- I love it!

Interesting lead characters, funny support characters, a lot of varied plot lines that cross paths left and right and good humor.

Can't go wrong really, but it is still in the first season, so hopefully it can sustain itself.

The premises are funny- Karl (played by Joshua Malina) is having a hard time with his wife until she gets tips from her best friend- his ex-mistress, who also happens to be living with them (read my last post it explains all that). However, while Karl is enjoying his new spicy bedroom life, Wendy, his wife is less than satisfied. The funniest line in the entire episode is when he asks if he makes her happy and she says, "You get an A+ for effort", and then he asks if he satisfies her and she says, poker faced "Can we grade on a curve?"

Frustrated, he goes back to Marla (the ex-mistress now house guest) and asks if he ever satisfied her- and in about 3 seconds she replies no. So he ends up asking her for tips so he can satisfy his wife! We can all predict where this is going- wife Wendy walks in on them (clothed) stimulating positions on the dining room table! After she freaks out for a bit, he grabs her and kisses her and she is satisfied at last.

Michael Vartan is learning how to juggle his new mega career and his children, while coping with his ex-wife's new boyfriend and his role in the kids lives as the new fun guy. I like him as an actor, but the storyline is a little too much drama, and I think his ex-wife is miscast. Not a huge fan of hers.

In an effort to win back his kids affection, he dresses up for his kids birthday party- only to find out he wore the bad guy costume and the new boyfriend has the good guy costume- and they end up punching and rolling on the ground.

Brody is somehow suffering from PMS- his hormones have synced with his wife and he is all emotional and sad- so Karl gives him medication to help, but it ends up making him all macho and testosterone-ish... not a great way to be for a guy who owns a crisis management business!

Duncan is being blackmailed by a mysterious someone who demands $100,000 not to release his name that was in a black book written by a transvestite hooker... but the money drop gets screwed up... and while he is trying to reconcile with is ex-wife, he has to lie to her to deal with the blackmail and of course she figures out he's lying and it all explodes in his face- but she is still seeing Terrence (Duncan's business enemy, now in personal life too), so I am sure that will end up being an issue at some point when he finds out.

Side point- he drives an SLR, which is a great car- which I know because I drove one for a few months, however, not an 'It' car really anymore, especially not in NY, which is where the show takes place... he needs an upgrade- if they really wanted to be cool, he should drive a Bugatti Veyron- or DB9... just a suggestion- and with a wide range in price point!

Anyway, Duncan decides to tell Lisbeth the truth about the black book and the blackmail... keep in mind she is still seeing Terrence and Duncan doesn't know...naturally before he gets a chance to explain it her, Terrence rings the doorbell- and Duncan leaves.

The twist- Terrence was offered the black book, and he buys it and gives it to Duncan, explaining that he really cares for Lisbeth and she'll never have to be embarrassed by Duncan, but he should leave her alone and let her go.

As I said, great storyline- looking forward to this week's episode!
