Heath Ledger R.I.P.

It has not been a good year for actors struggling with substance issues- it is only January 22 and another actor has died.

Heath Ledger was found dead in a New York apartment on Broome Street this afternoon. No one is sure exactly what happened yet, but they believe it might have been a drug overdose. He had a massage appointment and when the housekeeper came to get him, she couldn't wake him up.
'The Dark Knight' as The Joker
I am completely blown away by this. To begin with, he has so much going on for him right now- he has a 2 year old daughter Matilda with actress Michelle Williams, although they broke up recently. He has a lot of movies that are about to come out as well- the Batman film 'The Dark Knight' and he was filming "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" in New York. Just this past week there were photos of him on set.

As I read his profile on http://imdb.com/name/nm0005132/bio
I am more and more saddened, he was in so many wonderful movies and was so young- only 28. Just a few days ago I saw 'The Four Feathers' for the first time and was blown away by just how talented he was- I am having a hard time believing that he is dead.

Below are articles and posts I have found online regarding his life, the movies he made.

NEW YORK (AP) - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence in a possible drug-related death, police said. He was 28. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let Ledger know the masseuse was there found him dead at 3:26 p.m.
The Australian-born actor was an Oscar nominee for his role in "Brokeback Mountain" and has numerous other screen credits.

'Brokeback Mountain'
Here is a list of the some of the movies he made:
The Dark Knight
I'm Not There
Candy
Casanova
Brokeback Mountain
The Brothers Grimm
Lords of Dogtown
The Order
Ned Kelly
The Four Feathers
Monster's Ball
A Knight's Tale
The Patriot
Two Hands
10 Things I Hate About You
I am saddened that a man with so much talent and so much life yet unlived is gone too soon. He was one of those people who affected others without realizing it- how many of those movies listed above have you seen and loved (and remembered he was in? I was surprised by a few of the titles myself). My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. He will be missed.
